Partner Adam Rodd Wins Major Jury Trial Verdict for Town of Monroe
Sued for $7.2 million, Jury Finds Unanimously in Favor of Town
Drake Loeb PLLC Partner Adam Rodd obtained a defense verdict, upon a jury trial, in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York in White Plains on May 12, 2025. The plaintiffs in the case were various property owners in the Town of Monroe who brought a federal civil rights lawsuit, under 42 U.S.C. Section 1983, claiming damages from the Town in the amount of $7.2 million dollars based upon limitations contained in the Town’s rental registration law. After years of litigation and a jury trial, the jury unanimously found that the challenged provisions of the rental registration law did not cause the plaintiffs any damages and dismissed the claims in their entirety.
Immediately following the verdict, Town of Monroe Supervisor Tony Cardone released a statement via video outside of the courthouse stating, in part, "-- we just received a verdict -- it was a unanimous decision for the Town of Monroe -- there will be absolutely nothing that we have to pay and I'm so glad that we had Adam Rodd from Drake Loeb as our attorney.. I can't tell you how joyous we are --."
Adam is the head of the litigation department and focuses his litigation practice on defending municipalities and school districts in a variety of matters in both state and federal courts. He also serves as the Zoning Board attorney for the Towns of Cornwall and Philipstown.
