Municipal/Land Use Associate

An important cornerstone of our firm’s practice is the representation of municipalities in a broad range of matters, including municipal board representation, service as Justice Court prosecutors, and litigation defense.

We are seeking attorneys with municipal law experience as described below to support our existing and growing client base in this area. In this role, you will be supported by our municipal law team and manage your caseload by attending meetings, preparing resolutions and local laws, providing legal advice on a variety of matters to towns and villages, and performing associated or aligned work including residential real estate and land use matters. 

Job Requirements

JD from an accredited Law School

Licensed to practice law in New York

Substantive, recent New York State legal experience representing municipal boards and performing residential real estate

Related experience representing companies in land use matters is not required but viewed favorably

Superior oral communication and presentation skills

Must be available to attend night meetings throughout Orange County, as well as in surrounding counties such as Dutchess, Putnam, and Ulster

Familiarity with and interest in living in the Lower Hudson Valley to maximize business development and networking

Litigation Associate

We are currently seeking attorneys with litigation experience to support our clients primarily in the areas of commercial litigation and insurance defense (school districts and municipalities). As a member of our team, you will independently manage a litigation caseload, handling matters from pleading stage though to settlement/trial stage, collaborate with our experienced litigation team, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

JD from an accredited Law School

Licensed to practice law in New York

Significant, recent litigation experience in New York State and Federal Courts handling court appearances, pleading and motion practice, all phases of discovery, and negotiations/settlement; trial experience is not required but preferred

Superior oral communication and negotiation skills

Excellent legal research and writing skills

Familiarity with and interest in living in the Lower Hudson Valley to maximize business development and networking
